Siembra Salsa is a project designed to introduce Siembra Nebraska students to entrepreneurship, product development, and project management. Over the course of a week, the students saw the project from start to finish, developing two different salsas to be sold at Destino 2022 and gifted to key funders.

The Team

Chef Clayton

Chef Clayton worked as the lead chef for the Siembra Salsa project. He demonstrated basic knife and kitchen skills, as well as food safety and spoke about the behind the scenes of owning a restaurant.

Haidy Rivera

Haidy worked with the Nebraska Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and learned how to work with and serve her community’s local businesses right on South 24th street.

Kayden

Kaden worked with Project House Works and learned basic construction and maintenance skills while he helped renovate a home for a family.

Deylin Tenorio

Deylin had the opportunity to shadow our employees at the Latino Center headquarters and gained a variety of soft and hard skills from each of our employees.

 

Denise Valdez

Denise worked at Gifford Farms to assist with their summer camp for kids. While working at the farm she was an animal educator for the children that attended and helped out with the daily chores of a farm.

 

Dafne Alvarado

Dafne worked in the Latino Center’s marketing and communications department to learn about the basics of media marketing such as content creation and social media management.
