Part-Time Programming Assistant

Job Title: Part-Time Programming Assistant

Department: Administration 

Supervisor: Director of Programming 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt | Part-Time | 20 hours a week  

Pay Range: $19-21/hr

Mission: The mission of the Latino Center of the Midlands is to cultivate generations of engaged, thriving Latinos through educational foundations, workforce development and leadership opportunities. 

Position Summary:

The Programming Assistant provides administrative support to the Director of Programming who oversees the department at the Latino Center of the Midlands (Family & Community Well-Being, Workforce Education & Innovation, and Pathways 2 Success). Responsibilities include promoting agency programming, planning and evaluation programs, providing administrative support, collaborating with other departments, and implementing special projects (including our family committee and civic engagement activities). 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promotes community and agency resources and opportunities to participants and the general public 
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of department programs and events 
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Programming, including scheduling appointments, maintaining files, and preparing reports 
  • Conducts research on best practices for nonprofit programs/programming 
  • Ensures staff completion of programming manuals and procedures (Program Manuals, Implementation Manuals, Programming Calendar, others.) 
  • Works on special projects as assigned by the Director of Programming, which can include but are not limited to: Family Committee and Initiatives, Civic Engagement and GOTV initiatives, Community Assessments, and others.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and efficient programming experience for participants 
  • Stay up-to-date on current trends and best practices in programming and community engagement 
  • Ensures the LCM Community Directory is updated (min. quarterly) 
  • Supports the outreach, recruitment, and implementation of departmental programming and activities. 
  • Maintains relationships with community partners and general stakeholders Collects reporting data and organizes it within the database system. 
  • Promotes program activities in community organizations, churches, media, social media, and other channels. 
  • Serves as a professional representative of the Latino Center of the Midlands and follows the organization mission and policies. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience 

  • Current students in an accredited university/college.
  • Experience or education in the following fields are recommended: Public health, social work, human services, nonprofit management, horticulture, and related fields. 

Language Proficiency: 

Bilingual in Spanish and English required. 

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Cultiva Bienestar Specialist

Job Title: Cultiva Bienestar Specialist
Department: Family and Community Well-Being
Program: Cultiva Bienestar (Cultivate Wellness)
Supervisor: Cultiva Bienestar Program Manager
FLSA Status: Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM–4:30 PM, plus alternating Friday and Saturday morning workshops.
Pay Range:
$19/hr

Mission: The mission of the Latino Center of the Midlands is cultivating generations of engaged, thriving Latinos.

Summary: The goal of Family and Community Well-Being (FCW) is to provide our families the tools necessary to live a healthy, self-sufficient, and fulfilling life. We do this by directly interacting with the community, partnering with other organizations, and advocating on our community’s behalf.

The Cultiva Bienestar Specialist leverages their working relationship with client households to engage them in many areas of personal health and urban agriculture. Personal health is their overall well-being, which includes many aspects of life, environmental, emotional, physical, and social health, as well as disease prevention. Their home garden offers hands-on experience growing fresh fruits and vegetables.

Essential Duties:

  • Engage client households and student interns in areas of personal health and home gardening.
  • Visit client households a minimum of twice a month.
  • Involve the student interns in client household visits with shadowing and co-presenting opportunities.
  • Assess the needs of client households, provide case management, support action planning, connect community resources, and conduct follow-up.
  • Collect and enter data using prescribed tools that support the fulfillment of required reporting for program partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinates and schedules community activities throughout the year such as workshops or cooking classes.
  • Serves as a professional representative of the Latino Center of the Midlands and follows the organization mission and policies.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Safety and Security – Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines, reports potentially unsafe conditions, and uses equipment and materials properly.

Education and/or Experience: Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in social work, human services, public health or related field; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training in such fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language: Must be fluent in Spanish and English.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance are required.

What is the Latino Center’s remote work policy?

All of our employees begin their careers working at the Latino Center’s office in Omaha, Nebraska. This allows for new hires to get to know our community and services, as well as develop relationships with other members of the Latino Center team.
